About Paul

Paul originally came to Cambridge as an undergraduate studying Natural Sciences. Early jobs revolved around Epidemiology and Public Health before moving into IT and becoming a College Computer Officer in 1996 and moving on to a (Non-School) Department in 1999, thus having to solve the problem of the millenium bug twice over.

He joined the (then) University Computing Service (UCS) in 2006 as half of Institution Strategy, a team providing advice and guidance on IT matters to management within University Institutions and fostering community among IT staff across the collegiate university. Paul has also been active in representing Cambridge within UCISA (the Universities and Colleges Information Systems Association), first within their Distributed IT Support Staff group and more latterly within the more general Support Staff Group. With an interest in confidentiality stemming from a background in Public Health he also chairs the UIS' Security Liaison Meetings.

As Information Services seeks to build on the successes of UCS, the move into relationship management is a natural one as it brings together the joint aims of co-working and disseminating good practice that were at the heart of Institution Strategy.
