Bright Ideas

Bright Ideas is the University ideas scheme - to collect and develop innovative, exciting, and inspiring ideas. This pilot scheme allows the University to crowd-source the finest ideas from its own community.  Bright Ideas sets campaigns to encourage us to focus our thoughts and submit ideas for others to discuss and contribute to developing, ideas which could bring benefit to the University.

News update 5 July 2016:

The three current campaigns (Open Mic, Collaborate IT for a more integrated IT Community, and Problem Statements) have now closed for new ideas and entered the refinement stage which lasts until 15 July.  The jury selection then takes place with the winning ideas being announced in the first week of August.

Progress on our three previous campaigns is as follows:

  • University-wide CO mentoring/shadowing scheme: workplan in place for August with reporting due back in September 2016
  • Widen the scope for Project Light: initial meeting with IT officers and College reps will take place in late July 2016. This meeting will focus on prioritisation and decision-making
  • Laser/inkjet cartridge collection point for NMS/Downing site: University's waste and recycling collection contract has just been awarded to new contractors, who are currently concentrating on the primary waste and recycling materials, with work on other recyclables planned for later in 2016.

Look out for this opportunity to create, collaborate, and make ideas happen with further University of Cambridge Bright Ideas campaigns.
