2014: A review of UIS' inaugural year
2014 heralded a sea-change in how the University provides centralized digital information services. 31 March 2014 saw the first part of the formal merger of the Computing Service (UCS) and Management Information Systems (MIS) into the embryonic Information Services (UIS) department. On 1 August, the High Performance Computing Service (HPCS) officially joined UIS, completing the departmental merger. The new organisation is tasked with delivering the world class IT services necessary to support the future needs of teaching, learning and research at Cambridge.

2014/15 students to benefit from early access to their UIS accounts
Work has been underway to allow students who are new to Cambridge, but have not yet arrived, to access their UIS accounts with their CRSid and password. This will allow them to access authenticated University services in advance of their arrival.
