September 2017 update

The first release of the Room Booking system has been launched successfully and is currently being actively used by the Department of Divinity.

As part of this release, we were looking at the design principles, focusing on user experience. Key areas included looking at consistent font usage, colours, iconography and branding. We are also working closely with the Department on their timetabling needs and ways in which the system could improve current processes. By implementing a bulk upload facility, we're looking to significantly reduce the amount of time taken to generate a large number of bookings.

For the next phase of the project, we are delving deeper into the user experience of the system and implementing changes based on feedback. This includes various levels of customisation for each user category and improved functionality for system administrators.

Alongside this work, we've started a project to look into turning the system into a full service, initially focusing on integration with the UIS service desk so that, when a service goes live,a structured support network will be in place for users.

The initial target audience is all Departments based on the Sidgwick site. A roadshow session has been planned for Thursday 14 September at the Faculty of Law, which will be the second institution to adopt the system. Further roadshows will follow for other Departments on the Sidgwick site.

If you are interested in the system and would like a brief demo, please contact either Chris Thornhill () or Rob Smith ().
