* Outlook 2016 incompatibility with Exchange 2007
Outlook users should check with their local IT support staff before upgrading to Office 2016 since Outlook 2016 won't connect to Exchange 2007 using Exchange services. If you need to access mail on Exchange 2007 you will need to reinstall a previous version of Office i.e. Office 2013 - this is permitted under the terms of the EES Agreement.

UAS staff should not download Office 2016 (Windows or Mac OS) to institutionally-managed PCs  at this time.

Applications that may become available in future

  • OneDrive for Business provides 1TB of cloud-based filespace that can synchronise data (files and folders) between personal devices and storage accessed over the internet. It can be used to share files and folders with collaborators and teams. It is a similar service to that provided by Dropbox, Box or Google. Existing Dropbox users can choose to migrate their files to OneDrive or keep them on Dropbox and use OneDrive in addition to their Dropbox, in a similar way.

  • Skype for Business is the latest name for what Microsoft used to call Lync. It is a Unified Communications application including capabilities for instant messaging, videoconferencing, white-boarding, collaborative editing and Voice over IP (VoIP) telephony.

  • DreamSpark Premium gives access to Microsoft's full software development tool set, server and application platforms and training and certification programmes.

Home Use Program (HUP)

The Home Use Program will be made available to qualifying staff, in due course. These limited rights allow use of the applications covered under the EES Agreement on a personal device, for work-related purposes.

HUP rights will incur a one-off personal charge of £9.95 +VAT for Office Professional Plus 2016 (Windows) or Office 2016 for Mac, with backup media available for an additional cost of £10.94 +VAT.
