University Information Services (UIS) is seeking 2 x experienced Desktop Service Analysts for 1-year secondment. This role will directly support multiple schools/departments in closing the specific compliance gaps with the University's Information Services Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) and Systems Management Policy (SMP), both of which are central to the University's cyber security strategy.
These posts are practical, delivery-focused positions and will involve collaborating with local IT staff, researchers, and administrators. You will support the rollout of key technologies and processes required to meet compliance expectations by the April 2026 deadline.
Successful candidates will have hands-on experience working across Windows, Linux, and macOS platforms, alongside strong communication skills, technical troubleshooting abilities, and a collaborative approach.
These roles will be managed by UIS and based out of the Central Support Hub. The successful post holders will report to the Support Hub Manager.

Key responsibilities
- Assisting departments with the deployment of Tanium to all relevant devices in scope of the SMP and AUP.
- Supporting the installation of Trellix EDR on eligible endpoints.
- Documenting associated network ranges for devices deployed with Tanium.
- Assisting with the registration of IT assets into the school's central asset register.
- Identifying scientific and specialist equipment that may require exemption or alternative compliance approaches.
- Providing guidance to departments on SMP requirements and acting as a liaison with UIS specialist teams where needed.
- Supporting local IT teams in closing specific compliance gaps.
- Sharing technical guidance and best practices related to SMP implementation.
Essential skills
- Recent experience in delivering IT services within a complex environment.
- Evidence of working at a tactical or operational level to deliver technical solutions.
- Demonstrable experience in a specific area of IT (e.g. desktop support, infrastructure, or endpoint management).
- Developing knowledge of at least one technical specialism within an IT domain (e.g. Desktop Support within Infrastructure).

Desirable skills
- Experience supporting multiple departments or teams in a federated IT structure.

What you will be doing

This role is pivotal in ensuring the integrity and reliability of digital platforms that underpin the University's research and administrative excellence.
We are seeking an experienced and highly successful software QA team leader to take testing ownership of a critical platform based on Microsoft Fabric and Power BI technology. Existing services must be protected while ensuring that each new domain satisfies the requirements and meets the needs of the stakeholders. Building quality from the start and finding defects as early as possible are key criteria for any successful candidate.
The role-holder will review the existing test strategy, refine it, and ensure compliance. At a high level this will include the definition and phases of testing, scope, responsibilities, and success criteria for each phase, ensuring alignment with institutional compliance and data governance standards. The role holder will ensure testing activities are well-communicated, documented, and aligned with stakeholder expectations. Key stakeholders must have clear, concise, and timely metrics to enable informed decisions. Azure DevOps (ADO) is the current central testing tool, so experience with this or a similar tool (e.g. Jira) would be advantageous.
The role-holder will be expected to perform test execution where this is not already resourced. Non-functional Requirement testing experience is important. The QA Lead will define and drive the test automation strategy, selecting appropriate tools and frameworks to support regression and performance testing as the platform scales.

As a Business Analyst you will
Work with stakeholders and other members of the project team to understand and document business needs.
Document complex current state systems and processes, in a way that is easy for non-technical staff to understand.
Document future state systems and processes, recording and prioritising future state requirements enabling a successful delivery to business-as-usual operations.
Ensure that the products and services delivered meet the needs of the business.
Work on the specification, design and delivery of digital products by selecting and applying appropriate business analysis techniques.¿
Are you the right candidate?
Extensive experience working within multi-disciplinary delivery teams to shape and deliver digital services.
Ability to adapt to project needs and flexibility to use skills outside of a typical BA role e.g. conducting testing activities and planning / managing small projects.
Comfortable working to tight timescales and adapting the approach as necessary.
Experience of working in Agile environments.
It would be advantageous if you have had experience using tools such as Azure DevOps/Jira/GitLab.

Senior Software Developer (Fixed Term)

The University of Cambridge's Information Services is seeking an experienced Senior Software Developer to play a crucial role in the redevelopment of the University's recruitment systems. This 18-month fixed-term position offers the opportunity to lead a significant technical transformation that will benefit the University for years to come.
Our recruitment platform processes an average of 3,000 job postings and 70,000 applications annually, connecting talented individuals with one of the world's leading universities. We're embarking on an 18-month transformation to modernize these critical systems, streamline the recruitment administration process, and build a more robust technical foundation for the future.
We're looking for a motivated and product-minded developer to join a focused 5-person development team within a thriving 60-engineer DevOps function. You'll work closely with other talented developers, product managers, business analysts and directly with members of HR staff across the University, to shape and deliver the technical roadmap for recruitment services within the University.
If you enjoy working directly with stakeholders, observing the outcomes of your work first-hand, and collaborating with different disciplines on shared goals, this is the ideal role for you.
Our technology stack is: Python (Django), Java (Spring), TypeScript (React), Docker, Terraform, GCP. We maintain a DevOps culture and use Scrum for our day to day work. We have also adopted an "open by default" approach to new work and thus you can find much of our work to date in our GitLab. We're looking for candidates with experience in:
Developing full-stack web applications in Python (Django), and / or Java (Spring or similar).
Solving complex business problems as part of a cross-functional, agile team.
Using Docker to develop and package applications for deployment.
Deploying services into cloud environments.
Writing tests as part of day-to-day delivery and ensuring that testing is applied at the appropriate level.
Working in a DevOps environment and maintaining CI / CD pipelines.

Experience migrating large Java systems to Python.
