User Support Analyst (VLE)
University Information Services (UIS) wishes to appoint a User Support Analyst to join the multidisciplinary, and diverse, Teaching, Learning and Assessment (TLA) Systems team, supporting the University's central TLA Systems, primarily our VLE service, Moodle.
You will join a supportive and collaborative team, with a management structure that will invest in, and back up your personal development, learning and professional improvement. The TLA services team is responsible for the central Virtual Learning Environment (Moodle), Lecture Capture (Panopto), Digital Assessment and Academic Integrity (Turnitin). We consist of a Service Manager/Systems Manager, Delivery Manager, Team Leader, Functional Analysts/Business Specialists, Learning Technologists, Technical Developers (Moodle), Support Analysts and Trainers.
Our team work with academics and staff across a wide range of subjects and locations, providing TLA product specific advice, system, user requirements and change analysis, evaluation, testing but also guidance and encouragement to help staff become competent and confident users of the systems across the Institutions and Colleges of the University. You will improve the blended learning experience of students by offering guidance to academics, departmental administrators & computing officers, and provide systems advice to management and university governance groups.
You will play a vital part in the VLE service maintenance as well as expansion as it strives to meet the University's needs. During the annual VLE upgrade cycle, you will participate in evaluating change (including evaluation and testing) and updating help guides. You will be expected to ensure university policy compliance such as data retention, accessibility and GDPR in all calls answered, as well as resolve them in a timely manner.
You will provide 1st line helpdesk support to all-end users, ensuring assigned requests are managed according to procedures, using version control and release management standards and software. You will ensure the user's voice is considered within the service and take charge of basic user training, with a view to expend the TLA online training offering.

Associate Delivery Manager [Secondment] [Temporary Cover] Internal Secondment Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join University Information Services as Associate Delivery Manager, providing maternity cover for the current postholder on a 6-month fixed term contract. The successful applicant will support the Cyber Security Risk Reduction Programme during this period.
This is a great opportunity to work on a high-profile strategic initiative within UIS. You will support the CISO (Chief Information Security Officer) and will work with various colleagues across the department to track and organise key activities.
In addition to excellent administrative and coordination skills, you will have some experience working in an IT environment and using IT applications such as PowerBI to capture, analyse and represent data. Ideally you will have some experience working in a PMO or as a project manager or coordinator. You will need to be diligent, organised, reliable and proactive, with great communication skills.
As part of this role, you will be expected to:
- Provide regular reporting for the Cyber Security Risk Reduction Programme to be used at ISC, UIS GSLT, etc. This will include visualisation of data via dashboards and charts and will utilise a variety of data sources, such as Tanium.
- Support the SMP compliance workstream, by responding to queries (such as exemption requests) and tracking progress across UIS and the wider University.
- Liaise with colleagues in the Comms team on engagement activities around the Tanium rollout and SMP compliance.
- Maintain programme actions, plans and risk registers.
- Collaborate effectively with UIS teams to address and resolve inquiries related to policies and technical standards. Ensure that responses are documented systematically, with key questions and answers recorded centrally to enhance knowledge sharing and streamline future operations.
- Capture and consolidate feedback from team members on the application and impact of policies and technical standards, identifying potential challenges or risks to delivery. Drive engagement and facilitate strategic discussions with the broader Cyber Security Risk Reduction team to ensure alignment with risk management objectives and continuous improvement initiatives.

The role
The Communications Manager will join a team of customer-focused communicators, working to help 60,000 students and staff to discover, understand, adopt and use UIS' products and services. You'll be leading the development and implementation of change communications and content strategy for University-wide programmes and projects. You'll devise multi-channel communications and engagement plans, and create compelling content, to help a variety of user groups and stakeholders to understand changes in our products and services and how they will affect their ways of working.
You'll also collaborate with other Communications Team members to raise awareness of the department's activities, and with service managers to ensure information about their services is communicated effectively to students and staff across the University.

As a Communications Manager you will:

- collaborative with members of the team to ensure all communications tools meet the needs of the team for all target audiences and support the strategy for specific campaign communications

This position is a full-time role, usually based on the University's West Cambridge Site.
What you will need
- Proven experience of leading and implementing change communications for organisation-wide projects.
- Experience of producing content on technical topics that meets end users' needs.
- Expertise and experience in search engine optimisation and content optimisation
- Experience of bespoke data analysis and report writing.
- Familiarity and experience in using traditional and new media to develop effective communications.
- Excellent editorial, proofreading and writing skills.
- Good understanding of social networking tools and their application.

Who you'll be working with

What you will do
You'll be working on a diverse range of AI and HPC platforms and infrastructure projects. You will be operating large scale, highly available supercomputing services. You will be collaborating with world leading academic research teams, and researchers in the public and the commercial sector to deliver on their project goals.
What you will have
-Practical experience in tools such as Git, Terraform, Ansible and Kubernetes.
-Proficiency in Linux System Administration.
-Practical experience with programming and scripting languages such as Bash and Python.
-Domain knowledge in one or more areas from SysOps, DevOps, GitOps, OpenStack, HPC and Software Engineering.

-Ability to provide expert guidance on best practices and procedures and mentor junior staff members.
